Life and Death were made in the summer of 2007, inspired by Gustav Klimt's figuration of the female form. I Painted these partly in response to a colour scheme i had used during a commission piece; i became somehow enchanted with cadmium orange and any colour that would befriend it. Both these were a pleasure and a relief to create, they provided me with the total artistic freedom and playfulness which does not dominate my current series of work. These two pieces operate to their fullest as a pair.
